Come Back, Brutus - All Is Forgiven! |
Even being stabbed by your best friend
is better than being smothered by the Ugly Sisters! In the world of the
imagination every dream or nightmare is
possible, and what a
nightmare Denton Iliffe-Carr as Julius Caesar is having! The children of Orgill School spent a fantastic week in bringing to life characters from their favourite books. As they came into school they were greeted by the sight of the puppets, Fleur, Sage, Troll and Big Bad Wolf, and teased by competitions - guess the teacher from a childhood photograph or the book they were hiding behind. In a topsy-turvy world of surveillance, every child caught reading a book was given a free raffle ticket to enter a draw for a £5 book token. They were invited to come back to school in their pyjamas one evening, bringing their teddy bear for bedtime stories with a cup of hot chocolate. Parents could bring children from birth to three years old to a "Talk to your Baby" workshop, to join in story telling activities and pick up the message that it is never too early to stimulate the minds of children with language. Older children were encouraged to buddy the younger ones and tell stories to them. And on the final day they could come to school dressed as their favourite character, and find their teachers dressed up, too - Miss Roberts and Ms Ellison as the Ugly Sisters, Miss Warbrick in pigtails as Dorothy, Miss Byrne with a long wooden nose as Pinocchio. Our photographs show just a few of their marvellous disguises, including Cohen McAlone as Oliver Twist (right) and (left.)
