Paul’s Gurner Takes Pride of Place
in Copeland’s Bainbridge Room

A small model of a gurner created by internationally renowned sculptor, Paul Bainbridge, is mounted in the principal meeting room Copeland Council named after him. It is a miniature image of the statue which will be a striking feature of the park that is being planned on the green space just below the castle walls, as the welcoming face of Egremont to those approaching from South Street. Mayor Anne Faichney proudly accepted this offering to the Borough from such a distinguished artist.

Paul had earlier treated a group of councillors and officers to a fascinating illustration of his work, including waxwork sculptures of ex-President Bush, Senior, and actor Anthony Hopkins which he had created for Madame Tussauds, and enticing images of the female form. Everyone present came away with a really entertaining insight into the processes of his art and his inspiration.
