From Egremont with Love
So outraged was Kayren Conway
when she heard that 73
year old cancer sufferer Harry White could not obtain on the NHS a drug that
might prolong his life she was moved to raise money on his behalf on a
sponsored cycle ride from Egremont to his home in Workington. Her eleven
year old son, Harry, eagerly demanded to join her because he enjoys cycling
and was thrilled by the prospect of helping someone in need.
They made the journey in 1 hour 40 minutes, using cycleway paths, and
brought with them £1,325 donated by the generous community of Egremont,
including Cumbria Roofing and Mayson Brothers. Egremont Today has also made
its own contribution, proud that Kayren and Harry have, in the name of the
Egremont community, been moved to make this special effort to help someone
they did not even know
We fully understand that doctors and health managers will always have tough
decisions to make about how to use the finite resources of the National
Health Services most effectively, but we believe that the action of Kayren,
Harry and all who have supported them ask challenging questions about the
management of our health services.
