Linda Challenges the Best

Watch out, the men of Windscale Squash Club! A fierce challenge awaits you. As a star event in celebration of the club’s 50th anniversary, Linda Winder has persuaded her England Ladies team mates to come to Egremont in April to take them on.
Head Coach to the Club, Linda returns from the National Closed Championships with her reputation as one of the fittest and most skilful players of her age group enhanced once again. Against the toughest competition in the country, she fought through to the semi-finals, losing to reigning champion, Carole Page, only after a five set thriller. Her results were enough to secure her a place in the Nationals, which is the second biggest tournament to be held in England, and also earned her place in the England Ladies team for the third year in succession.
Against Carole Page, she knew she had to "play well and stay patient." She made only four mistakes in the whole match and was leading 6- 2 in the final set when a nasty fall upset her confidence and composure. From there, "the title just drifted away from me."
Not only Linda but all the young players she coaches will hold their heads up high after yet more evidence that Windscale can match the best in the country.
