Copeland's Labour MP Jamie Reed has praised staff at
Whitehaven's West Cumberland Hospital following today's report into hospital
cleanliness published by the Healthcare Commission. Based upon a series of
unannnounced spot checks West Cumberland hospital wasa graded as a 'Band 1'
hospital - scoring above 91% and demonstrating a 'high standard of
cleanliness across the board.' There are four hospital grading bands. Jamie Reed said: "This report is a vindication of the efforts of management and staff at the West Cumberland hospital. To achieve such a high score on a truly difficult and unannounced examination illustrates the commitment and professionalism of the staff there and they deserve to be congratulated. Hopefully they can now push on from their 93% rating to achieve 100%. I'm proud of this result, the people who work there and most importantly of what it says about West Cumbria and the West Cumberland hospital."
